P: Well I always preferred Mark Tobey to Jackson Pollock. Tobey made small paintings with a zen like concentration, an approach which I saw as oppositional to JP's massive pieces.

P: Oh yes, I try to escape myself, but in truth you can't

A: Re invention, it's the hardest thing. Most people mine a familiar niche and then find that they have dug so deep that they can no longer see the original entrance, then there is no escape.
